Hugo Barros Costa
Hugo si è laureato in architettura all’Università di Porto, in Portogallo.
Consegue il dottorato di ricerca in Architettura ed espressione grafica all’Universitat Politècnica de València, dove attualmente ricopre la carica di docente.
E’ istruttore in laboratori di sketch urbano a New York, Oporto, Udine e Valencia ed esegue attività di ricerca e collaborazione presso le seguenti università:
– American Academy of Art – Chicago;
– The Parsons SCE – New York City;
– Università degli Studi di Salerno e Sapienza – Università di Roma.
Partecipazioni a concorsi ed esposizioni:
- Vincitore del premio di viaggio internazionale “Coup de couer” al Rendez-vous du carnet de voyage per il suo primo libro pubblicato: “New York – Cronache grafiche”.
- Finalista al concorso per la delimitazione della memoria di Ken Roberts (2016, 2017 e 2018)
- Vincitore del concorso “Sketch 4 Freedom” – Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park – NYC
- Mostre personali a New York, Valencia e Madrid e Mostre collettive a Venezia, Valence, Ferrara, Clermont Ferrand e Dallas.
- Artista storyboard del film in primo piano “We the animals”, diretto dal candidato agli Emmy Jeremiah Zagar e prodotto da Public Record, NYC.
Dall’ottobre 2010 disegna ogni giorno.
Hugo graduated in architecture in Oporto, Portugal. Ph.D. degree in Architecture and graphic expression from Universitat Politècnica de València , where he is currently lecturing.
Instructor in Urban sketching workshops in NYC, Oporto, Udine and Valencia.
Visiting Researcher Scholar at American Academy of Art – Chicago, The Parsons SCE, New York City, Università degli Studi di Salerno and Sapienza – Università di Roma.
Participations in competitions and exhibitions:
- “Coup de couer” international travel book award at Rendez-vous du carnet de voyage for his first published book “NYC – graphic chronicles”.
- Finalist at the Ken Roberts Memorial Delineation Competition (2016, 2017 and 2018)
- Winner of the “Sketch 4 Freedom” Contest – Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park – NYC
- Solo Exhibitions at NYC, Valencia and Madrid and Collective Exhibitions at Venice, Valence, Ferrara, Clermont Ferrand and Dallas.
- Storyboard artist at “We the animals” featured movie, directed by the Emmy nominated Jeremiah Zagar and produced by Public Record, NYC.
Since October 2010 he has been sketching every day.
